WOW that's lots of shrimp amazing

btw have few questions

is that to control tds with salty shrimp? anything else other than salty shrimp?

Btw just testing my shrimp tank about GH and KH also PH

it raised GH6 , KH 3 and PH 7.0

what best GH and KH for shrimp? and question it can be control with

Magnesium Sulphate Heptahydrate or Calcium Sulphate Dihydrate??

is that calcium tester is only for salt water available?

thanks guys

Ok, now you're confusing me, lol. :congratulatory: I use a Hannah TDS pen which when checked against my EC pen is 0.5 & when I had my EC @ 200 - TDS @ 100 my shrimp had no colour & breeding rate was low, I increased it to 160 & have had a remarkable difference in both colour & breeding. I totally agree that you need to know where your TDS pen came from but the filter checks EC. Even with your conversion of 0.64 a TDS of between 150-200 would make the EC between 240-320, or am I missing something?

First of all, what shrimp do you have? Are you using RO water? Those parameters are good for cherries(Neocaridina) but not for Caridina varieties(CRS, CBS, GB, SW, TB, tiger) Also, which Salty Shrimp minerals are you using?

As I mentioned, the WP is good for cherries but the CRS, CBS & mischlings need a PH about 6.5, GH 4-6, KH 0-2, do you know what your TDS is?

The best way to get your WP right is RO & SaltyShrimp minerals & either RO or rain water is the best way to lower these values :encouragement:

get a portable one don't need any installation just an adaptor for the tap

+1 for the tap adapter, absolutely awesome for rentals! :encouragement:

Read this well written thread by BB, completely explains the ratio between Ca & Mg. :victorious:

Theres also another awesome sticky thread by jayc in the WP section that explains the reason shrimp need Ca & Mg.

Quick update... I have been slowly bringing down the EC/Tds and OMG the shrimp look soooo much happier, they are back to swimming all over the place looking for the girls, out and about all the time.....so much happier.

So currently at EC of 450 down from 600 so now let's wait and see how juvis and baby's develop and see if my population grows even more LOL. THANK YOU BLUEBOLTS YOU ARE "THE MAN".

btw ... Old Chinese TDS pen has been burnt and in the trash lol

The only way to bring TDS down is to do WC's with either RO water or rain water & depending on what minerals are effecting the TDS this may or may not affect your other WP. For example, if you have too much calcium carbonate or magnesium sulfate, this will have an effect but nitrate won't. :encouragement:

:encouragement: will get my RO unit soon, i think with RO unit no need using water conditioner anymore right? :)

Right.

But you'll need to re-mineralise with something like Mosura Mineral Plus Ultra, or Salty Shrimp.

I have a 100ml bottle of Mosura Mineral Plus Ultra, if you'd like to purchase :)

:redface-new: shameless plug

It has been a few weeks now and I have done a couple of large water changes. I tested the water parameters this morning, GH6 and KH2, TDS 140 and PH 7.5. Obviously the PH is off but there isn't anything in the tank that should cause the PH to rise to this figure so I will just run the tank for another month with 10% weekly water changes (probably just with RO water) and see where we are at that point. The RO water tests at PH6, and the KH and GH in the tank could come down as they are at the upper limits for Caridina shrimps! There are only about 10 very small snails in there at this point, but they seem to be doing well enough.

I believe these to be very rare in Australia so you may even consider making it a longer term plan and produce your own by starting with the best CRS you can get as that is where the pure lines started! Depends how patient and interested in the project you are, but would save money as well? If I recall correctly it takes from 8 generations of selective breeding? They sell them at micro aquatic shop but do not ship to Western Australia, but that means they are available in Australia. https://microaquaticshop.com.au/products/pure-red-line-grade-ss-shrimp Good luck and just maybe smeone on here may point you in the right direction or be able to supply you with some.

Hi Guys,  Does anyone know where to buy PRL shrimps in WA, not the CRS please. Thanks Regards

Yes it’s super accurate to position where I want now and stay there- I am satisfied.  All the fish and shrimpers are doing excellent! Coming up on 4 years running!

You must be pleased with that, it looks better and is much more robust and less likely to damage or leaks! The tank looks very natural now it has been running for a time. I see the ember tetras, how are the blue shrimp doing, I see a few? The cat and dog look very content and unimpressed, lol.
