Seed Shrimp

Tonight I noticed a swarm of seed shrimp devouring a baby red ruby shrimplet (few days old) I don't know if it was already dead (maybe a molt issue) hence this question, has anyone ever noticed seed shrimp ganging up on tiny day old shrimplets that have just moulted? I have not but not so sure as they were like flies on poo...I would say they didn't kill the poor thing but I am the type that doesn't like to leave them be even if there is the slightest chance, so I siphoned out most of what I could see in the tank.

I hope they don't prey on babies.. as I've noticed a fair few in one of my tanks with bubs :/

1st check your GH, to ensure there's no moulting issues. I've not noticed seed shrimp being aggressive whatsoever....I'd suspect they were feeding off a dead Shrimplet.

+1 with what bb said. Ive noticed them taking advantage of a free feed many times.. mostly on a moult but never seen them hunt down a shrimplet.. but boy if I do..

+2, I've seen them clean up a dead shrimp but never attack a live one, big or small. :encouragement:
