I'm having the same problem waiting for Sulawesi Salts , they have sent out a second one and I still haven't received it over 2 weeks now. Yes from a sponsor and they have been very helpful but still waiting.

why do you need sulawesi salts ..... :congratulatory:

For my Cherries that are in RO water. :D please don't tell me I haven't needed them all these months???. No I changed all the shrimp to RO and as the cherries still need minerals added thats what was recommended

+1, GH/KH is the right one for cherries, it's superseded the use of Sulawesi 7.5 for cherries. :encouragement:

I will use this one until its finished if it ever gets here:) my cherries are doing well on it or in it . Will get the GH/KH next time- I forgot Dean had written up about it and wondered why he didn't have any. Hopefully the sponsor I bought it from will get it to me soon

Well another day wasted ... still no shrimp minerals however I have done a ro topup and removed approx 8L out of all my tanks am as we speak dripping pure RO back in over about an hour. Pre TDS reading 267 now TDS is sitting at 252.... will update @ end of dripping ;-)

Its dropped to 244 in one tank and 246 in the other now... with another 2 inches to go...these are the cherry tanks .... with the crs/cbs I will go slower

Ok here we go ... with small water chgs over the past week have led to a drop to tds 226 -crs and 227 -cbs .....

Shrimp mineral finally arrived from a forum sponsor who was rude and had very poor standard of customer service including judgmental comments ...yep they wont be getting my business again.

I have now put 60 L of RO into one of the holding tanks and remineralized it. The RO with minerals is now a tds of 130 and heres the kicker... the GH still wont change colour and is still at pale pale yellow not as mrshrimp. Showed me which was bright orange then bright green .

So I am taking it that my damned almost brand new gh kit is faulty . Just my luck.

So now that I have remineralized 60L I really want to chamge the water in the crs tank .... do I do this by taking 50% water out now and then dripp I ng it back in over the next 6-7 hrs ? If I drain the tank i am scared I wont catch them all ad I have so many babies in (yes believe it or not one of the girls released about 4-5 days ago.

Tell me oh shrimp gurus what do I do ???? I work full time and then some and only get the weekend to do major stuff.

So if anyone reads this soon please respond I would be eternally grateful

Ok experiment ..... glass normal water add 1/2 spoon of gh+

Stir, put in vial, test ..... 14 dtops of GH solution =

I would recommend catching as many as you can find & replacing 90% of the water then dripping them for a few hours before putting them back in the tank. This is the quickest way & will cause the least amount of stress in the long run both on the shrimp & you. Even if you don't catch all the shrimplets I think this is the best way to do it. :victorious:

Definitely get another test kit or take some water to you LFS for them to test & if you get the same result then I swear I curl up into a ball & scream! Hahaha :smiley_simmons:

I did a test with a spa test kit for total hardness . I know its prolly not able to indicate anything of importance but here are the results.

1. My cbs tank water 2. Remineralized ro and 3. Tap with mineral overdose

I cant get out to test the gh today though .... so as I have followed instructions on the new mineral container and ro water can I still do the 90 % ? Do I strip the plants out too ? The goldvine should b ok yes ? I have moss on it and the shrimp love it

Ok, so by this test it looks like you have hardness in the No.2, I'm guessing that the measurement is in ppm so your reading is about 5-6dGH which, for crystals, is on the high side of perfect :victorious:

Sounds like a plan! :encouragement:
Whooohoooo so I can start without getting out to buy another gh kit ?
I would still get a new test kit cause a spa kit isn't very accurate compared to an aquarium kit but yeah you can start changing the water :victorious:

It has been a few weeks now and I have done a couple of large water changes. I tested the water parameters this morning, GH6 and KH2, TDS 140 and PH 7.5. Obviously the PH is off but there isn't anything in the tank that should cause the PH to rise to this figure so I will just run the tank for another month with 10% weekly water changes (probably just with RO water) and see where we are at that point. The RO water tests at PH6, and the KH and GH in the tank could come down as they are at the upper limits for Caridina shrimps! There are only about 10 very small snails in there at this point, but they seem to be doing well enough.

I believe these to be very rare in Australia so you may even consider making it a longer term plan and produce your own by starting with the best CRS you can get as that is where the pure lines started! Depends how patient and interested in the project you are, but would save money as well? If I recall correctly it takes from 8 generations of selective breeding? They sell them at micro aquatic shop but do not ship to Western Australia, but that means they are available in Australia. https://microaquaticshop.com.au/products/pure-red-line-grade-ss-shrimp Good luck and just maybe smeone on here may point you in the right direction or be able to supply you with some.

Hi Guys,  Does anyone know where to buy PRL shrimps in WA, not the CRS please. Thanks Regards

Yes it’s super accurate to position where I want now and stay there- I am satisfied.  All the fish and shrimpers are doing excellent! Coming up on 4 years running!

You must be pleased with that, it looks better and is much more robust and less likely to damage or leaks! The tank looks very natural now it has been running for a time. I see the ember tetras, how are the blue shrimp doing, I see a few? The cat and dog look very content and unimpressed, lol.
