Hi there - I'm new and a bit lost navagating this site.

I'm no stranger to forums, but im really confused with the format here!\

For some reason I cant access the "All about shrimp" section of the forum... but i can see the subcategories like "general questions/discussions" and post in them because of the "recent activity" pannel on the right hand side of the screen in the main forums area... which I can then click on to access them... but I have no other way of accessing these areas.

What is the deal with that?

All I can access under the "forums" tab is the new members introductions (where i have already posted), a section on thanking and appreciating members and the section on marine shrimp (I dont run marine tanks) and a section on native shrimp (i dont have any natives).

I get the feeling Im missing a BIG area of this forum.... but I have no idea why? Have I missed something really obvious or should I PM the administrators?

Thanks for your help.. in advance!

Hi mate i was kinda the same when i first joined had no idea what was going on but as everybody says the more you actually participate within the forum (commenting/helping) the more you can access, also by paying $12 membership fee a large chunk of the forum will open including all the classifieds section and it really is well worth the $12

The best $12.50 you will spend, you will get it back 100 fold when you save on the amazing shrimp etc. in the classifieds and enter comps.

SKF encourages genuine participation of information, experiences etc.... The forum is private for several reasons, and the classifieds are not available immediately (or requires prem membership) to avoid "one time sellers" ... or the hobbies version of FIFO only sellers. ;) SKF % on FS post is less then 1%, vs another forum at 29% !

The idea is the more you post, the more the forum opens up, and more information, discussions etc....are available to you. This stops the non genuine hobbyist from creating issues and bad tones/vibe. SKF also has a Code of Conduct for selling live stock, and encourages a positive environment.

There are numerous members with premium membership $12.50, and this allows you access to the entire forum, including the library, classifieds, auction sections etc... Importantly, this also assiist and supports the forum administrator in growing and improving SKf.

Skf is a great forum, no hidden agendas, and a forum that truly encourages a positive environment to further enhace this wonderful hobby. No doubt it has assisted in the growth and succes of keeping and breeding shrimps in Australai, and has certainly helped me learn and enjoy the hobby so much more.

So do keep posting (pics of your tanks, share your experiences etc..) , and see for yourself the vast array of information on this forum :-)

Being a member of almost every forum out there with the same nic 'KillieOrCory', I have to say this forum is great. Well worth contributing to have the forum open out more, or to go the premium member route.

Yeah, it's definitely well worth the $12.50 to become a member to open up all the subforums.

Not only do you get to change your name to a nice orange colour, you gain access to subforums that contain well written information, articles and reviews that you truely can't find anywhere else. I know - I started at least one of them - the Filter media review thread where I pitted the Mr Aqua Ceramic rings vs the Power Material Bio-Ceramic rings. That review cannot be found anywhere else but here. :)

That's just one, there are others.
