Ok been awhile to get myself organised and get a tank etc. Finally got a aqua one 51L which came with a heater, filter and light. Have filled the tank and added the water primer and will gradually add plants etc during the next couple of weeks whilst i wait for the water to cycle. Looking forward to documenting my progress and hopefully as i proceed you can pass on your great advice.

First pic is just after i filled it so the water should be clear once i return home tonight.

Got a few plants on the weekend which i have just placed in the tank for the time being. Also bought some gold vine which is soaking in a tub and hopefully it will soon be water logged. Gratefully getting some java moss from black cat which was offered in the freebies and planning on tying this and some of the java fern on to the gold vine. Ive already tied some java fern to pieces of terracotta pot and rocks i had and the remainder of the moss and java fern will be tied on to some other sticks which i also have in the tub. Progressing slowly but still got time to play with things before i think about shrimps.

Well my gold vine was finally waterlogged so time to tie on some java fern and place it all into the tank. Couple of minor adjustments and im pleased with the result. Still got some java moss coming which wil be added im a few places. Im leaving it for another week whilst I check the water and hopefully it will then be ready for a few shrimp.

Thanks for the comments. Whilst I was working on the shrimp tank my ews being the next door neighbours we also interested. Generally food is their motivator but seems curiosity got the better of them

What is in the terrarium?

EWs.. not sure what that stands for..

From a scaping point of view, that long stick across the front is a big eye sore IMO.

I would do something with it... what, I am not sure.. just sorta "sticks out"..

Good thing, shrimp dont care about "rule of thirds" or any other scaping rule, so who really cares right?

The terrarium is an exo terra. EWS = eastern water skinks. Yeah im leaving the tank at the moment and may change it around in the future

Couple of pics i took today of my first tank. Unfortunately i couldnt reduce the glare from the light nor the reflection from the front glass:stupid:.

On the hunt now for some more shrimpy inhabitants

Also including a pic of my little nano tank which was a freebie from Torface and purchased some great CRS & CBS from Squiggle to go in here. The moss is growing crazy but the shrimp seem to be loving it.
