RO water question

Gday all just wanted to ask if RO water still needs to be conditioned before going into tank? My understanding is that RO takes out all the chlorine and heavy metals out of the water thus meaning no need to condition?

Because the water is so pure you need to add things back in for the shrimp - they won't survive long without certain minerals in their water. Salty shrimp minerals are excellent and you can get one for Crystals and a different one for Cherries.

Or my favourite, Mosura Mineral Plus.

It's essentially a magic potion that raises GH of RO or rainwater, otherwise that pure water will suck all the minerals out of your shrimp. ;)

And yes, you don't need to use a Water dechlorinator, which was the original question.

+1 on the above comments, BUT if you're doing a water top up, and/or trying to reduce your TDS, then "like me", I just pour the RO water directly (slowly, and over the filter outlet) without remineralising. Alternatively, you can remineralise your RO water to 50% of the existing or targeted TDS.
