Sad loss of a berried blue :-(

I got some new blues the other day and this morning lost one if my new berried f remales :( my wp are

nitrate 0

Nitrite 0

Ammonia 0

Ph 7.8 I have heaps of ial in ther to no avail

Tds 260

did you acclimatise the shrimp slowly when you recieved them..

berried fems can be a lil weaker than unberried ones..

Yes over 1 hour with drip acclimation. I think they got stuck in the po for a night .... im not sure if she was t hardest w one that arrived berried or the one that gor berried within 24 hrs in my tank im so sad

gettin stuck at PO shouldnt be too much of a problem ..

also your ph should go down slowly as you added indian almond leaves..btw when did u add them,how many did you use and how big is your tank..?

on my cherry tanks my tds is usually pretty high at around 300-400 but they seem happy and breed regularly

All you would need is a net and airstone for tumbling, i think there is still an even chance you can save the eggs.

Ial have been in since start . 2 big leaves in 84 L tank and just added another one, the original 2 r at the decomposing stage going almost see through. No idea about high ph

Sorry about your lose. Your water is fine. some times these things happen even when our water is perfect. IMO, there's nothing more you can do.

It is usually the berried girls we need to look out for as they are under extra stress...maybe acclimate for longer next time, I find the longer the better...I have lost my share of berried girls but always worth trying to hatch the eggs artificially.

Sorry for your loss mate, devo so close too.

I tried to tumble eggs off a GB that died in a fish net but forgot about them lil pesky snails chowing down on them....hope their cholesterol sky rocketed lol.

Best luck with the future clutches.

Sorry to hear about your loss, never a good thing to loose berried girls. :dejection:

You don't want them to moult while berried as the eggs are stuck to their shell & they would drop the eggs, it can happen but they will leave the eggs behind. :encouragement:

Yes, some people use a small plastic strainer as it's more solid :victorious:

I still have 3 berried but it doesn't make it any easier :( just sad that I didn't think, I could save the eggs :( ...oh well like I said 1 chalked up to experience:o

Well I made the decision to put the berried blue, that just delivered her shrimplets, and 2 of my best blue boys into a breeding net ...lets hope I have no losses and a berriesd blue soon.... how long do I leave them in there SAFELY!!:confused:

      Finally set up the 30L Shrimp Tank

      It has been a few weeks now and I have done a couple of large water changes. I tested the water parameters this morning, GH6 and KH2, TDS 140 and PH 7.5. Obviously the PH is off but there isn't anything in the tank that should cause the PH to rise to this figure so I will just run the tank for another month with 10% weekly water changes (probably just with RO water) and see where we are at that point. The RO water tests at PH6, and the KH and GH in the tank could come down as they are at the upper limits for Caridina shrimps! There are only about 10 very small snails in there at this point, but they seem to be doing well enough.

      I believe these to be very rare in Australia so you may even consider making it a longer term plan and produce your own by starting with the best CRS you can get as that is where the pure lines started! Depends how patient and interested in the project you are, but would save money as well? If I recall correctly it takes from 8 generations of selective breeding?       Yes it’s super accurate to position where I want now and stay there- I am satisfied.  All the fish and shrimpers are doing excellent! Coming up on 4 years running!

      You must be pleased with that, it looks better and is much more robust and less likely to damage or leaks! The tank looks very natural now it has been running for a time. I see the ember tetras, how are the blue shrimp doing, I see a few? The cat and dog look very content and unimpressed, lol.
