Hi all,

When I was in Turkey couple of weeks ago I came across a shop that was selling CPO's.

CPO - Orange Dwarf Crayfish - Cambarellus patzcuarensis (var. orange ) is super cute!

Anybody ever seen them in Australia?

No, are these the ones that if I remember rightly self reproduce?

Quite a neat little guy, love the colour

Damn something else so cute and we can't have them. I would happily make tank room for him!

We have Native Red one that get to 6cm.

I think if they found that one in the country the feds would go NUTZ

Hell yes! And wouldn't blame them at all. Bit more research, I was wrong, not the self reproducing, do need males/females. But beautiful all the same.

Still would rather go native if I ever go down that route, and then probably the local blue form, stunning

Unfortunately in the animal world it's often the boys that are the nicest colours so I just assumed:D

I would love to get the native ones if they ever become available.

Ineke, that's untrue.......We're all God's creatures, and he's made the boys in all forms with the greatest looks. It's women who spread this mis-conception saying they are better looking. For the record....I'm not gay, NOT that there's anything wrong with that ! LOL

Now if we are going to bring God into this he made man and then took a rib and made woman a much improved version:angel:

Me thinks thou doth protest too much -how many times have you told us you are not gay!!!!!

Ineke...did you just hijack this thread ? LOL

If you take away something that's perfect (i.e. rib), it becomes a lessor person....can't see the logic of it being better .....i.e. if you takeaway a leg from a chair, the chair becomes ________beep ! LOL

Back to the serious side of things, the Red crayfish are on my list of things to get. When I have done some building and have more tanks going.

Saturday week I am picking up some Sky Blue and Hot Pink Red claws, an old strain of mine I thought were gone forever, lucky me

Hey Bob, just remember I have enough tanks to play with these and any others when you have enough.

As far as crays go I only bred ordinary yabbies before.

It has been a few weeks now and I have done a couple of large water changes. I tested the water parameters this morning, GH6 and KH2, TDS 140 and PH 7.5. Obviously the PH is off but there isn't anything in the tank that should cause the PH to rise to this figure so I will just run the tank for another month with 10% weekly water changes (probably just with RO water) and see where we are at that point. The RO water tests at PH6, and the KH and GH in the tank could come down as they are at the upper limits for Caridina shrimps! There are only about 10 very small snails in there at this point, but they seem to be doing well enough.

I believe these to be very rare in Australia so you may even consider making it a longer term plan and produce your own by starting with the best CRS you can get as that is where the pure lines started! Depends how patient and interested in the project you are, but would save money as well? If I recall correctly it takes from 8 generations of selective breeding? They sell them at micro aquatic shop but do not ship to Western Australia, but that means they are available in Australia. https://microaquaticshop.com.au/products/pure-red-line-grade-ss-shrimp Good luck and just maybe smeone on here may point you in the right direction or be able to supply you with some.

Hi Guys,  Does anyone know where to buy PRL shrimps in WA, not the CRS please. Thanks Regards

Yes it’s super accurate to position where I want now and stay there- I am satisfied.  All the fish and shrimpers are doing excellent! Coming up on 4 years running!

You must be pleased with that, it looks better and is much more robust and less likely to damage or leaks! The tank looks very natural now it has been running for a time. I see the ember tetras, how are the blue shrimp doing, I see a few? The cat and dog look very content and unimpressed, lol.
