oxygen blocks

Just seeing if anyone has used oxygen blocks in shrimp tanks and what people think of the idea. I use them in my pond over the hotter months as a preventative measure and just found some laying around which got the brain turning over as to whether they would work in tanks that dont run air powered filters.

My only question about them would be, do they increase TDS as they dissolve?

Hadn't thought of that. I was thinking about ph as they dissolve faster in lower ph so may not last long.

I will have to do a trial on a fish tank with regards to tds.

Aren't those designed for temporary transport of aquatic critters or for ponds as they have massive amounts of water? Dunno about using it continuosly over time in a tank though. Also they can't be cheap either as compared to running an air pump or even an oxydator...

I think that was what they were designed for. Cost isnt an issue, I get them for $1 and they last around a month in the pond.
