How to clean a sump?

Hi guys n girls. Just wondering how do you clean a sump? i got dirty stuff in there and want to clean out the tank.

Put all the media in a big tub with water from the sump with the air stone in. Remove the sump and give it a good clean and after wash the media with the tank water. Put the mdeia back in and fill up the sump half way with fresh RO water with SS minerals.

Would the above methods work?

If it needs a good scour use coarse salt it works well and doesn't upset the shrimp after
