Which conversion figure does my TDS pen use?

Hi all

Trying to figure out what conversion figure my TDS pen uses?

its a TDS-02 tds meter

Tried reading the instructions as basic as it is but it doesnt metion anything

I've got the same one and have no idea BB and Dean did a write up on TDS and EC pens but none of it helped me. :(

I have two, the one you have & I have a Hannah, the Hannah is exactly half(0.5) of my EC pen & the other one is reads at about 0.7, it reads higher than the Hannah when put in the same water. Hope this helps :victorious:

If the instructions don't indicate the conversion rate' date=' then it's best to compare it to a Ec Pen....or a calibration solution. Biggie, when I send you your shrimp, I can confirm the TDS of the water, and you can confirm your conversation that way.

Factors of 0.5, 0.64 or 0.7, depending on region it is made for....if your factor doesn't equate to your Ec pen at 0.7 then perhaps use 0.64 ?

Biggie can you let me know your results please that will give me something to go by. I had an EC pen and my TDS was half of the EC then hubby decided to calibrate the EC pen as that didnt seem right and broke it.

Can i check with u guys how many scoops of saltyshrimp mineral do u put in a 20 litre drum?

according to my tds meter im putting in approz 1 3/4 scoops to get a tds of around 180ppm

just asking because the instructions say only one scoop per 20 litres

You want your EC to be 200, so I'm thinking if you do only one scoop for the 20L drum you'll get around 100ppm, I have a feeling your pen is 0.5 if this is the case :encouragement:

It says on the jar that your EC should be 200. You haven't stuffed the water, you just need to dilute it down with some more RO water. I'd take half out & fill it back up again, should be right after that :encouragement:

Edit: if you're not using the rest of the water make sure you keep it aerated while you're storing it :encouragement:

Yup! Although others have had success with higher levels, 100 is the recommended :victorious:

still have one drum of pure though so hopefull thatll bring it down abit

i tested the ro before i added minerals though and the tds was 20-30

Yeah that's ok, maybe the place you got it from needs to change the membrane or the DI resin soon :encouragement:
