Couple of my cute Discus

newbreed

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

As requested here are a couple of pics of my discus, they don't look their best as there has been some fighting in the tank this weekend. As they grow they challenge for their place in the pecking order.

I have just the right tank for them!!!! Gorgeous I love Discus but have never had any. Always thought they were too finicky but since keeping shrimp don't know if that would be such a problem anymore. -No I don't want to have any- I don't

Beautiful fish Newbreed and there are so many varieties of them now.

Love the blue snakeskin! I have always longingly looked at discus and keep reminding myself no they are too expensive and can be finiky to the enth degree. So thank you for sharing your two beauties, for the rest of us not so game to try discus.

Discus aren't really that demanding. Am realising if you can keep shrimp you will be fine with discus. I bought mine young and raised them over years, saves money. Thanks for the feedback, they are amazing to watch. Just like shrimps.

Beautiful newbreed! I will have to put up some pictures of my new guys!

i love them, they have such great personalities and I really don't think they're any hard to keep than high grades of shrimp. They just like stability and i think if you get healthy fish to start with you're set. Well I'm hoping anyway, I've only been a discus owner for 4 days lol!!!

They're great. Like shrimp, know who your buying from and you'll be right.

Mine swim to the surface at feeding time, they become really placid when looked after.

Also, when siphoning the tank they swim around at the base of the siphon, almost a game to them.

Torface you will have hours of enjoyment, watching shrimp, watching discus, watching shrimp.....

Enjoy

I love the Snakeskin Discus. How many do you have in total? Any full tank shots?

Only have three at the moment, downsized last year.

Their tank is bare bottom with basic driftwood, not very pretty.

The other female is a red melon, but she is pretty stressed so not up for a photo right now.

Will post once she is settled down a bit more.

Have you been able to sex them? I remember peering at their sexual organs trying to work out what I had lol

I only really succeeded when I had wrigglers on the glass hehe.

Was pretty certain I only had three females left.

But I am now believing the blue ss may be a male.

I tend to judge based on finnage and behaviour. As it's dorsal is now pointed at the end, this is generally a sign of boyhood.

Time will tell, they are all still quite young.
