Another New cherry variant created :)

Dean

Recommended Posts

most of you have all seen the green tiger cherry line i have been working on in another thread and this is sort of linked to that but

different :)

I was cleaning out some of the old GTC tanks that i had selected the best from already and had left all the cull and others in,

and i noticed a few weird and wonderful colors as usual (but there is never 2 to line breed from)

but then i noticed something very cool that i had over looked for the last 2 months :stupid:

and upon closer inspection i realized i had a perfect pair of a new color variation to begin work with :triumphant:

Now this is the first time i have ever seen this color pop up in any of my programs and whats even more surprising is there are a perfect

pair (male & female) to start with...

so happy days ahead for me :)

my good camera has a flat battery so sorry for the poor Iphone pic but its the best i could do tonight.

will try to get more shots soon.

this pic does nothing for the true color they show! but gives you an idea.

They are the weirdest aqua blue/green color i have ever seen in a shrimp. (so far )

yep as soon as the camera is charged up ill get some better pics. :)

i say the odds of them being easier to line breed because there are 2 is pretty good. i think if there was shrimp gods they are watching :)

They look beautiful! Love the colour on them, they look like the colour of the water you see around tropical islands.

I'm really hoping you can get them to breed true.

Please put me on the list in front of BB and 2OFUS ;)

Gorgeous colour well done Dean if anyone can get a new line out of them you can. Look forward to seeing how they go. can't believe the luck of having a pair half the work is done already. Shame you don't know the parents:encouragement:

Wow!!! I didn't think this new color would get people so excited lol.

I need to first cross the 2 I found and see if I can even get them to bread a small % true before

We all get to excited.

Cherries are hard work to get breeding true and it only takes 1 bad cross to ruin the line or put you back many months

In a breeding program :)

I'll keep you all posted with the progressand hears hoping they do well for us all ;)

It has been a few weeks now and I have done a couple of large water changes. I tested the water parameters this morning, GH6 and KH2, TDS 140 and PH 7.5. Obviously the PH is off but there isn't anything in the tank that should cause the PH to rise to this figure so I will just run the tank for another month with 10% weekly water changes (probably just with RO water) and see where we are at that point. The RO water tests at PH6, and the KH and GH in the tank could come down as they are at the upper limits for Caridina shrimps! There are only about 10 very small snails in there at this point, but they seem to be doing well enough.

I believe these to be very rare in Australia so you may even consider making it a longer term plan and produce your own by starting with the best CRS you can get as that is where the pure lines started! Depends how patient and interested in the project you are, but would save money as well? If I recall correctly it takes from 8 generations of selective breeding? They sell them at micro aquatic shop but do not ship to Western Australia, but that means they are available in Australia. https://microaquaticshop.com.au/products/pure-red-line-grade-ss-shrimp Good luck and just maybe smeone on here may point you in the right direction or be able to supply you with some.

Hi Guys,  Does anyone know where to buy PRL shrimps in WA, not the CRS please. Thanks Regards

Yes it’s super accurate to position where I want now and stay there- I am satisfied.  All the fish and shrimpers are doing excellent! Coming up on 4 years running!

You must be pleased with that, it looks better and is much more robust and less likely to damage or leaks! The tank looks very natural now it has been running for a time. I see the ember tetras, how are the blue shrimp doing, I see a few? The cat and dog look very content and unimpressed, lol.
