What's the deal with the red eyes?

Hey All, I posted this pic the other day in my macro thread & it's been rolling over in my mind as to why this little fella has red eyes? he came from a SS CRS mamma & I'm not sure about the pappa, it could have been either a SS, SSS CRS or a Golden Bee. The rest of the drop are a mixture or S, SS, SSS CRS & there is another two Golden Bee's who haven't shown the red eyes yet. Could this be something new or is this normal & it's eyes will darken as it gets older? I'm really interested to find out if this is something I should pursue? :confused:

It could still come back to it being a true albino they show up in most life forms so why not shrimp?

That was mentioned the other day but doesn't albinism show pink eyes & lack of colour? Why is he/she yellow, shouldn't he/she be white or clear? :confused:

Don't know about that albino fish are pink , but I thought she was pink thats how the picture on my ipad shows her.

Albino things dont have to be white...

I also have a GB with red eyes, it looks pretty cool :encouragement:

In real life he/she is yellow like a golden bee & the eye's are bright red, I'll try & get a better shot of him/her tonight. Albino fish are opaque white, the pink tint comes from the blood vessels close to the surface of the fishes body & their eye's are definitely a lot lighter pink that this ones :confused:

Yes it would be good if you had another to selectively breed it to see if the trait is passed on.

Albino organisms can still display colour, it's usually the darker pigments that are affected. And there are varying degrees of albinism, some types will still display even black pigments.

Cool lookin little shrimp, a lot of critters with Red eyes are goldish rather than white, either way I go with the consensus breed it

Thanks guys, I'm definitely going to breed it, just gotta see if it's a boy or girl the hopefully find one of the opposite sex, just a little excited to see if I can get a pure red eye crystal line :victorious: I'd still really like to know how it came about? :confused:

The "Golden Devil"...red eye seams to ONLY appear on GB...have not noticed it in my SW's... I have a few of them, and once you know the sex of yours, I can send you a mate for some selective breeding, to determine whether they'll breed true. :-)

Even if the eye fads as it get bigger, still breed it a you will still be able to improve the red eye with generations

I have adults GB's that still maintain their devil eyes ..... after the selective breeding squiggles, you can breed the OEBT..."Orange Eye", and be the Devil Eye Shrimp Specialist !
