I currently have 2 shrimp tanks but plans are afoot for a new specially designed fish room. About me, Im am the Owner

way of becoming a forum member.

Hi All from Anthony,Kristy, Finlay & Sebastian Koning.

Wow guys, never been made feel so welcome so quickly on any forum. I would generally like to see that a forum has a resonable amount of

information relative to my needs before contributing but in this case it seems well endorsed by its members. So I guess you will be seeing a bit of me on this site.

Great to hear dude, this is the best forum I've ever been a member of & the best community of amazing people I've ever been a part of too, everyone on this forum is so friendly & knowledgable, I'm glad you like it & are a part of it. Just got one warning, this forum is like crack, very addictive & so are the shrimp, before you now it you'll have a dozen tanks with twice as many types of shrimp, hahaha :smiley_simmons:

Well I gave up smoking last year and have been looking for something to fill that void. LOL Shrimp certainly seem the healthier choice.

Awesome dude, love your line of thinking, hahaha :smiley_simmons:

Healthier but not likely to be cheaper ;)

Welcome mate! Cutting out the ciggies means you have more money for shrimp!

Owning a building company could be handy when it comes to making a fish room.

What kind of shrimp are you keeping?

What do your tanks look like?

Im hoping this will be cheaper than my other vice a, 60's & 70's muscle cars. The New Garage will have a display for the cars and will incorperate tanks

into the walls but the hurdle I face at the moment is humidity from the tanks. The room will be climate controlled and have large dehumidifiers but I need to make sure the air contains no suspended water particles. My cars are original unrestored low mileage ( 68 Plymouth RT Hemi Roadrunner (what God would drive if his wife would let him), 68 Mustang Shelby GT500, 69 396SS Camaro and a 66 Mini Cooper S) and as such irreplaceable . I like to keep things for future generations and as shrimp habitats come under more pressure the only place people may see these curious creature in the future may be our collections. At the moment I "only" have Cherries and will be using them to hone my abilities until I have the skills to more on to less hardy breeds. (Tank shots tonight) If anyones interested in old cars I can get some shots of them soon

Funnily enough my Mini is my favorite, It was the first car I bought when I was 17 and has been part of my life longer than it hasnt. Its no where near as powerful as the other cars but always puts a smile on my face and everyone beeps and waves. I think everyone over 40 has a mini story. Woops dont get me started on cars. LOL

Wow dude, an original Roadrunner? Very very cool & the 66 Cooper S is a little weapon & a half, the Camaro & the Shelby are cool too, my nieces name is Shelby after the Mustang GT. I think you will do just fine here & pick it all up in no time :encouragement:

Mini's are such cool cars i am not a fan of the new ones though except from the taco meters which i saw in one a couple of years ago. Definately got nothin on the old ones tho. I dont think i would fit in one though cause i am 6ft 3 and a bit lol

I think what I find endering is people dont seem out to take advantage of each other. Which is refreshing. I love that sort of behavior, I witnessed something pretty cool on a mini bike forum recently. A fireman who was injured fighting the wildfire's in California and lost his job (I know it sounds like a scam but he was genuine) was building a mini bike for for 10 year old Josh. He put up a post requesting cheap parts to finish it. He within 3 days had, had more part (some new) than he needed all sent free of charge from members plus a sponsor waded in with new riding gear. Ahh the world is good. LOL

It has been a few weeks now and I have done a couple of large water changes. I tested the water parameters this morning, GH6 and KH2, TDS 140 and PH 7.5. Obviously the PH is off but there isn't anything in the tank that should cause the PH to rise to this figure so I will just run the tank for another month with 10% weekly water changes (probably just with RO water) and see where we are at that point. The RO water tests at PH6, and the KH and GH in the tank could come down as they are at the upper limits for Caridina shrimps! There are only about 10 very small snails in there at this point, but they seem to be doing well enough.

I believe these to be very rare in Australia so you may even consider making it a longer term plan and produce your own by starting with the best CRS you can get as that is where the pure lines started! Depends how patient and interested in the project you are, but would save money as well? If I recall correctly it takes from 8 generations of selective breeding? They sell them at micro aquatic shop but do not ship to Western Australia, but that means they are available in Australia. https://microaquaticshop.com.au/products/pure-red-line-grade-ss-shrimp Good luck and just maybe smeone on here may point you in the right direction or be able to supply you with some.

Hi Guys,  Does anyone know where to buy PRL shrimps in WA, not the CRS please. Thanks Regards

Yes it’s super accurate to position where I want now and stay there- I am satisfied.  All the fish and shrimpers are doing excellent! Coming up on 4 years running!

You must be pleased with that, it looks better and is much more robust and less likely to damage or leaks! The tank looks very natural now it has been running for a time. I see the ember tetras, how are the blue shrimp doing, I see a few? The cat and dog look very content and unimpressed, lol.
