Big change in my motley crew

I have some B and C grade CRS who have been fairly quiet and not out a lot. Over the last few water changes I have been adding Salty Shrimp to the RO water and I can't believe the difference in my crew. They look a bit brighter in colour and are all out grazing at the same time. Usually there are only 2 or 3 out at a time. Seeing the change in them makes me feel guilty that I hadn't been able to give them the right minerals etc. If salty shrimp makes them this good I can't wait until my Benibachi tank has cycled to see how they behave When they go in there.

Nice ! Salty shrimp is such a wonderful addition to the hobby ! !

A colony of shrimps should be active, and inquisitive. Shrimps hiding may represent WP not being perfect, or environmental factors, like predator fish hoovering above them or individual shrimps, moulting, process of saddling/berrying, or needing some quiet time....but generally they should be active. Tanks with a few shrimps tend to be more subdue (confidence thing, safy in number). I often use these bavaiour characteristics to tell me whether all is with the WP....

Thanks BB the WP were within the preferred ranges even before I started using the RO , the tank held only CRS and 1 defiant RCS that didn't want to be caught. It has plants , moss and hiding caves but never saw more than 2-3 shrimp. now the WP are still the same except TDS is down slightly so the only change is the salty shrimp. Maybe they just liked the hidey holes anyway its great to see them out and about .
