I tried to snap a few photos tonight of my red cherries feeding.

Unfortunately they are with my phone so nothing too flash.

Out of the many I took these were the least blurry :)

The big mumma at the back is preggers with this male so I will leave her in the main colony for a couple of weeks and then chuck her in an internal box so I can keep an eye on the babies.

Nice Cherries that male looks a good colour can you get a better picture of him? Is he a solid red?

Not quite, but he isn't far off. He is similar to the male in the second photo down, in the vertical position, next to the ramshorn.

Great colour. I haven't got any males that solid, got some juvies with good colour but they could still end up being females. Yours look to be the darkest males I've seen yet.

I started this colony from cull quality cherries over a year ago.

Chose the best 10, let them breed for a few months and then repeat.

It's only in the last few months that I have started more selective breeding in internal boxes.

That's what I have just done put a few good coloured females , their babies and a few males and I am going to let them breed for a few months then do a cull. The females are really solid reds and some of the boys have good colour but nothing like your boys. Will leave them be for a while apart from taking out any really light boys if I can catch them. Then see what I end up with. You have given me inspiration that I am doing the right thing.

My first 10 I chose turned out to all be females so I had to give them a pretty clear male to start. After he did the deed with a couple I removed him.

When I get some more time I will look back through my photos and show you how they started

Great I would be really interested in that. People seem to put the reds down but they are still a very nice shrimp especially when you see the good Reds.:D

They have definitely improved in colour! The little one on the middle right is about the colour of my best male at the moment.:encouragement:

its my girlfriends tank. she picked out some cherries from my breeding stock abd this is what has come of it.

about to do a cull.and move up my breeders into the tank

      Finally set up the 30L Shrimp Tank

      It has been a few weeks now and I have done a couple of large water changes. I tested the water parameters this morning, GH6 and KH2, TDS 140 and PH 7.5. Obviously the PH is off but there isn't anything in the tank that should cause the PH to rise to this figure so I will just run the tank for another month with 10% weekly water changes (probably just with RO water) and see where we are at that point. The RO water tests at PH6, and the KH and GH in the tank could come down as they are at the upper limits for Caridina shrimps! There are only about 10 very small snails in there at this point, but they seem to be doing well enough.

      I believe these to be very rare in Australia so you may even consider making it a longer term plan and produce your own by starting with the best CRS you can get as that is where the pure lines started! Depends how patient and interested in the project you are, but would save money as well? If I recall correctly it takes from 8 generations of selective breeding? They sell them at micro aquatic shop but do not ship to Western Australia, but that means they are available in Australia. https://microaquaticshop.com.au/products/pure-red-line-grade-ss-shrimp Good luck and just maybe smeone on here may point you in the right direction or be able to supply you with some.

      Yes it’s super accurate to position where I want now and stay there- I am satisfied.  All the fish and shrimpers are doing excellent! Coming up on 4 years running!

      You must be pleased with that, it looks better and is much more robust and less likely to damage or leaks! The tank looks very natural now it has been running for a time. I see the ember tetras, how are the blue shrimp doing, I see a few? The cat and dog look very content and unimpressed, lol.
