Gidday from Sydney

Hi Everybody,

So a lot of you do already know me. My name is Davin and I've been a shrimp keeper for a few years. Previously I've also kept and bred

quite a few wild Bettas and Killies. These days we live in Sydney but I'm originally from New Zealand (hence my handle) but also spent

just on 10 years in the UK where I've kept and bred various salt water species.

I'm also a Carnivorous Plant junkie and keep a small collection these days. At the moment I've got some 25 tanks but just in the stage

of cutting back to reduce the power bill but also work on a smaller subset of shrimp as I have a couple of breeding projects I'm working

on. My favourite shrimp are Tigers and Ruby Reds but I keep a variety including numerous Cherries. My daughter has a tank of mixed

Cherry Shrimp and presently we have a large number of shrimplets coming along including some pale pinks. It is a completely mixed tank

with us having added Sunkists, Blacks, Blues, Reds and Yellows, great little display tank.

Professionally I work for the most customer focused Cloud Service Provider there is globally in the area of support. My speciality is

focused around Linux, Security, High Availability/Performance systems.

I'm always happy meeting other Shrimp Keepers and looking forward to checking out this forum ;-)

Thanks Squiggle ;-) I should probably have mentioned I'm also maintain the national Wild Betta registry. I'm not keeping any betta's presently

but suspect I'll end up keeping the odd tank down the line again. Macrostoma is my favourite but don't feel I'm doing them justice unless the

tank is at least a 36x18x18' and presently don't have that much tank space available for them.

Welcome to SKF. Great intro, and totally agree on the mix of cherries. My son has a tank of all cherries, and fascinating to see them all in one tank....but through my lack of wisdom I chose a white sand substrate that doesn't show off their colours very well.

Looking forward to your contribution and experience.

Guess shrimp and Betta are a common combination as I also have that combination! I also have macs and chans, not to mention the many variations of splendens.

Welcome back and hope your projects bare many fruit in the not so distant future, so I can get some of you. Lol!

Hi Andrew, Oh I remember you well, especially from the old place over Chatswood when you and your mother came to visit the first time. Wait until

I have my new setup completed, making a few changes to say the least but once its settled I throw up pictures etc.
