Would you call them a red tiger cherry?

Here are a couple of females that my male black cherry produced when bred with a couple of my really solid dark red females.

I know the pictures dont really show the bars/ stripes but both females do appear to have darker red stripes on their sides sort of like an all red version of the wild type cherry shrimp.

Beside the first female you can see her relative that came from the same cross and shows no red, just has shades of grey with grey bars.

I haven't seen any of my other female cherry shrimp show body bars like these before, and just wondered if anyone else had similar reds with the bars?

You might be on to something there, they do have a nice tiger stripe on them, might be worth seeing what line breeding will produce :encouragement:

Any variations are great...challenge is to get them to breed true. Great if hi can get a macro or close p showing the stripes?

Thanks for the encouragement, both girls are berried and I think most likely a brown striped/ barred brother is the father. Looks like I will have to start splitting the two colours of the original offspring.

Nice to know it wasn't just me wondering if maybe they had the potential to become an interesting morph.

I wish I could get a good macro shot of the shrimp, I only have a fairly simple digital camera that I am still struggling to get to work they way I want it to. It has too many functions and choices, I much prefered my old camera which I new well and was able to take great photos with.

Yep, I think using the car shed as a fish room is wearing thin. Need design my new stand to house all my tanks then I will have room for more 20L tanks. But then I also need solar for all the extra power.

HA HA oust the car. It wont die in the elements but fish will. Any way its only a lump of steel.

When I lived in Brisbane all my friends were and still are fish keepers, No one parked a car in the shed, no way they were all full of fish tanks LOL

I dont mind leaving my car out in the elements, its outdoors all day at work anyway. But the other half has funny ideas about sheds needing to house tools, and bars and have space for building projects. LOL. Since he works in the steel industry the shed has an uncanny nack of accumilating various bits of steel too.

The only shrimp he is interested in is Blue Bolts beautiful blues. But maybe I can tempt him with purple crabs.

I wish, sadly I suspect he would say I can convert one of the bays of my avairy to a fish house, and that is just not happening.

Beautiful shrimps baccus. Its a real dilemma trying to find that extra space. Any chance of an extended patio?

No chance of an extended patio, when we used to only have 2 tanks they where on the back patio, which also cops the brunt of any storms. Plus the dogs tend to have the patio, and geratric Leah has real trouble getting up from laying down now, but still insists on crawling under things to snooze.
