Blue Cherry Selective Breeding Program

BlueBolts

Recommended Posts

My F2 Blue Cherry berried again, and her colours are improving with maturity, which is fab ! Most of the F1/F2 stock is throwing out different shades of blue, blue/black and blue/brown...program is still in it's infancy. The dad has a deeper shade of blue, but I prefer the blue tone of this female....

She is gorgeous bb, I've got one cherry atm that has a lil blue in it but no where near that deep. My HTC fone doesn't do shrimps justice but ill have a go at getting a pic later tonight when its feeding time.

Looking at the shrimp you sent me there is a couple with stripes like tigers, once you get the blue going strong could it be possible to breed the stripes into them?

I've daydreamed for hours thinking if this could be possible with my yellows

Nice work again bb showing me new things every week atm haha

Thanks Ziek...hopefully can stabilise a nice shade of blue.

mickeyG.... Breed back stripes into them ? I'd much prefer the sold colours, and the OEBT, has that combo covered.

Hi Bluebolts,

I recently purchased some blue velvet cherry juvies so when they get a little bigger I will definately put a pic up for you, loving the blue cherries. were your darker blues from choc parents? Do you know of anyone that has tried breeding a Blue velvet (from rillis) with a blue from choc cherries? I have done a bit of forum searching to see if I could find out if anyone has but as yet I have not found anything. I love the blue shrimp but think my missus would shoot me if I was to spend so much on some OEBT. My shrimp addiction is um how do I put it... Not really shared by my missus. Slowly, slowly I will build up my colony.

G'day Scott, the darker blue's are from choc's, and I've been attempting to lightened the blue to a vibrant blue like the yellow, sunkist..etc.. These are some of the blues I'm selectively using ...

Very nice coming along really well. I have a very dark female that I thought was black but when you get her in a certain light you can see the blue in her. I have to get a camera and take some pictures but I'm pretty hopeless taking pictures. My daughter in law has a great little camera might have to borrow that.

BB, is it ok to mix cherries and TB in the same tank? Will the cherries effect the breeding program of tb?
