Yeah so do I but I have ten tanks to fill & with about 5-10 per tank you can understand why I want to try & get them for a fair bit cheaper :encouragement:

The minitem ceramic tubes that we stock are hand made by Mr Dokan from Japan who is good friend of my. He is the first and original design of the tubes. The china copy one aren't any where close to minitem's quality wise but I do understand the cost aren't cheap and I am more than happy to cut down the price for any skf member who bulk order :)

Btw peppy your tank look great! I can never understand how marine tank works lol will try it one day when I have enough success on shrimp tanks !

Thanks kitz, I'll give you a yo when I'm ready to get them, I'm currently saving for the soil & filter media for the tanks & sump. I know the Japanese ones are far superior quality & I really want to get them :encouragement:

After having many marine reef tanks for years & switching to shrimp, I'd have to say that marine is easier than dwarf shrimp, the hardest thing about marine is the water but if you set up the sump right you'll be doing hardly any water changes. I got my tanks down to 10% every six months & I've seen 300-500L setups that never need water changes :victorious:

I have both the official minitem tube and Chinese fleabay copy. The Chinese one has worse craftsmanship and the colour is painted on with a matt glaze of some sort. I had one where the glaze was chipping off.

The minitem ones are less fragile and really well crafted. To me they seem to be all ceramic with nothing painted on. If I had the money I'd buy a lot more minitem tubes

that's interesting to know! I've always wanted a marine tank but I always thought they were beyond me!

Hi Guys, Quick update. As some of you may know, I lost my entire colony due to poisoning my shrimp with what is thought to be oil on my skin from an oil bath (that's how easy it can happen). Was ready to quit the hobby, but after some kind words of wisdom and advice from many of the lovely members of skf, I have gutted the tank, and is now set up, cycled and ready to rock 'n' roll. I am yet to get any tester shrimp but will be getting some hopefully this week. The morals of the story are 'Your not always "Shrimp Clean" after a bath', and 'The people of SKF are quite honestly the most caring and selfless people I know'. I plan on keeping CRS, CBS and maybe try and get my hands on some nice coloured blue cherries. Then hopefully get my hands on my first TB. So exited. Fingers crossed. Below is the tank now. Getting there :) null_zpsc8acec5e.jpg

Very nice setup peppy...good luck this time round! I'm sure now that you know how sensitive they are you will have no problems.

Stunning looking tank. The substrate depth makes me.. eughhh frustrated.
Why? I think it looks great and she won't have any worries about it not buffering for a long while.

Thanks guys for your kind words. The centrepiece will look better when the windelov recovers. Didn't do too well in my plant holding tank for some reason. And @bb no floral arrangements lol. I can only manage to do nice things with aquarium plants. Cant even keep a cactus alive haha :/
