Yer definately. I think im just going to have big hole cut out the back and the vent on the front. Im just having trouble trying to find a vent that looks nice enough to not destroy the look of my cabinets, but provide enough ventilation at the same time. Took some more pics this morning as both tanks have cleared up nicely. Will upload soon

Tanks are looking awesome, also have you thought about putting the vents in the sides? This way the aesthetics aren't as important, just a thought :encouragement:

or on the sides and at the back, the more the better to reduce the likelihood of your chiller working harder for less.

I really like the simplistic approach :) Makes me thinkg of my tank

im worried if i do sides and back, it will alter the sturdiness v(If thats a word lol) of the structure.

Unless you're drilling holes 20-30cm in diameter, the structural integrity will be fine with small vent holes of 5cm or less. If you want to get really techy, you could put a PC thermo fan on each hole, one side sucking in & the other side blowing out & if you have them at different levels(to agitate the air better) you would never have a problem with heat, just another thought :encouragement:

Quick update. Tested all perameters last night, All good except a slight reading of ammonia, no biggie. Still undecided as to what to put in the front to fill the empty space, but definately something mossy :) Going away on a holiday for easter and back on Monday, so hoping to pick up shrimp next week. Cant wait.

Oh, quick question: How many of you guys use air stones compared to not using them?

Cheers

Yeah I've got air running in all my tanks but they are running sponge filters, I'd suggest having the air running a sponge filter for two reasons, 1. If you've got air going into the tank, why not make use of it, 2. You can never have too much filtration. :encouragement:

I have sponge filters in my tanks, used to have airstones but as Squiggle pointed out may as well use the air. In my bigger tank I have an air curtain as well as a sponge filter. The shrimp often sit on the air curtain enjoying the bubbles.

Hey mate have you figured how to get the lights to run at 50% power?

Im about to sell mine. When the light turns on the shrimp run for cover.

Haha no sorry. My shrimp dont seem to mind the light but i guess its because the centrepiece does reduce how much gets through tho. I will also be selling my planted and reef units when i find something to replace them with. The reef one is supposed to be able to just have to blue lights on but have no idea how to do that so im looking at more simple yet effective lighting options opposed to ones i think look cool.
