Blue Rilli

On other forums i see shrimp advertised as blue rilli's but to me they only look like a washed out/light blue shrimp??

This is what i think a blue rilli is

Solid blue on head and tail with a light blue mid section.

Yes totally agree.....I posted a thread previously discussing this, as your pic is the true blue rills...what's sold here is the blue velvet.

So what's the ETA on these "Blue Velvets" becoming as common as Yellow Cherrys are right now? I'm waiting for good supply, good colour and good prices... *waits patiently*

I've got a few blue velvets happening except some of mine have a red crown on heads and a few red dots trying to selective breed them to see what I get :)

The blue velvets... I'd say 6-12 months...the blue Rilis 12+ months...... just my prediction.....

The blue rili ( blue velvet) we have going around ATM came from red rili with blue gene.After each generation, we selective breed to wash out the red. That's why now some people have small patches of red in their offspring even though the parents are completely light blue.

There's some floating around for $50+, whilst others are selling for $90+. Several hobbyist are selective breeding them now, so should not be too much longer for them to be readily available.

I really like the red patches to be honest, here one of me female that just bred from my blue rilli x red rilli genetic stock. but yes I feel that the blue rillis here are overpriced.... Way overpriced. Thanks god for people on skf who plan to sell blue velvets/fairy/jelly soon at reasonable prices

I like the first pic of the blue rili but I always thought a blue rili would look like this

(Sorry about the borrowed photo) this is the type of rili that I am aiming for as a start to new colours. Would this be called a blue red rili?Please share thoughts.

It's confusing in WWW, with all the info from numerous sources, qualified/unqualified etc.... I would consider that pic a Red Rili Blue Body/Gene.

Thanks bb. So do you think they would breed true or become progressively more blue? What I would like to do is start with these as a base and then add the new cherry colours as they become available and have a stable colour line. The ultimate would be yellow head and tail with a blue body. But I am a one eyed Parramatta eels fan lol.

Perhaps crossing a blue velvet with a yellow rilis would get you on the right path ?

I bought a pair of blue velvet/ jelly /cherry for $100 on my last trip to BNE. They were a pretty good colour but Unfortunatley the heat wave had killed them the other day.

note to all: If you have the air con on during the night and then don't have it on during the day you will have an EXTREME temp fluctuation!

I just came across these "Aura Blue Shrimp"

I haven't googled them so can't say if they're a Neocaridina heteropoda variant or different species.... But I'd pay money for those :)

They are not as bright orange as the ones sajica put up but they are on the way. They are first gen that I have bred so a couple more batches and I will start to separate the reds from the lighter reds and go from there.

AURA BLUE: Neocaridina for what morphic features it has. Supposedly its a new strain and has no relation to the current strains of shrimp. can't find real info on it but here is what I could find from the day it was named.
