Deleting or managing attachments

Hi ,

over the years I have posted many pictures and now can’t post anymore as I’m over my limit. I’ve been trying to delete my old pictures and although I keep getting a message to manage my attachments I can’t find a way to delete any . So if anyone has any information on deleting old pictures please let me know. Thanks

I need to delete many many pictures. I’m 1000% over my limit now I’m not a paid member - I need to be able to go into my attachments and delete from there but I’ve been trying for quite a bit of time and can’t even edit to delete .

I  have looked at 'My Attachments' and can't see any way to delete the picture there and I assume that is where you need to delete them?

If you set up a new account that may work but there will be a limit to the size and quantity you can post, otherwise I guess you can pay the membership as you did previously. From the few picture of yours I saw though, they were too good to want to delete them anyway!

I am going to get a coffee and will mull it over further. I may send yo a private message, all else failing!

Thanks Simon . I have gone back to my oldest posts and deleted some very poor quality pictures. It will take me quite a while to delete from this way.

Even if i were to pay again i think i have too many pictures. It’s been fun reading through my old posts and seeing how many questions i had and how patient the members were with me.

I don't think there is a limit with attacments when you are a paid member, I have looked and can't see a mentioned limit anyway? All it states is a picture limit of 5MB file size!

As it has been yeas since you were on here , personally, I wuld probably set up a new account so you can keep things separate, you would still have your old account and could use the same member picture (similar name) etc, then if you pay the member fee you will have plenty of spare capacity (if there is a limit?). As I say though it would also help you especially with the big gap in the middle, (ie was it a long time ago when I posted about what I am looking for, or since I came back???) as I find that it can be difficult to find stuff I have posted when there is so much I have posted?

Great to have you back on here! Pleae let me know what you want to do and I will help if I can.

I suspect (but don't know) that unless they are deleted from 'my attachments' then it may not count anyway, ie deleting from a post wouldnt help?????

It seems you are right. Although I have deleted some when I check my attachments they are still there although the pictures are no longer in the actual post. I wouldn’t have thought it would be so hard to do especially when I get the message I need to manage my attachments.

As an ex-Moderator, you are in a unique situation Ineke.

As a Mod, you had an unlimited attachment count.

Ideally, we don't want images being deleted from the Forum, as they go towards making a post more interesting and relevant. Imagine if a post said ... "Refer to the image of this shrimp ..." and the picture was gone because the owner had to delete it to recover space.

@Cesar is the site owner now. Hopefully he will chime in soon. I have not been a paid member for so long that I don't know if there is a limit or not. If I ever stopped being a Mod on this forum, I will face the same problem you have now. And hopefully, I won't have to go deleting my pictures, because a lot of my pictures are what makes my forum posts relevant.

If there is no way around it, you just have to come back as an SKFA Mod. ?

Ha good try JayC . Not sure if I’m ready to come back as moderator just yet. I did delete a few pictures from a long way back but they weren’t good or clear pictures. I’m sure we will eventually find a way to enable me to post pictures again - well hopefully anyway.
