HI, everybody,

 

I am very keen to buy different types of freshwater snails. The only ones I can find are common golden mystery (apple) snails and red & brown ram snails. I have a few giant apple snail (light footed and dark footed).

Can you recommend any specific website or online store where I can buy a variety? I am on lookout at Gumtree.

There are a lot of Australia members so hopefully someone will reply.  I am UK based so am not aware of whether you can import them or availability etc? They do sell them on ebay over here but I couldn't see any on Australia ebay. There is a section on this site for livestock for sale but at a quick glance I didn't see any snails.

Thanks a lot for your reply, Simon.

We have very strict quarantine laws in Australia, so import any livestock is basically impossible.  I hoped that maybe some Aussie breeders will respond. Cheers.

Have you tried aquarium shops as even if they don't stock them they may have a contact or customer they know has snails etc. If you don't want to go to lots of shops you could just call them??

Thank you, Simon, for the information you found. I have a friend who does this and he has contacts in Australia. I'll try to find out everything from him and write if there is any information.
