Just a simple question.  I saw a number of positive comments about Hikari Crab Cuisine and Shrimp Cuisine.  Both contain copper sulfate.  Any idea on why?  I sort of assume a company like Hikari understands nutrition, but...

Maybe for fish food they have some good products, but not for shrimps.

Their shrimp cuisine is just a re-branded packaging of their crab cuisine. There is no specialised effort on their part to research and develop a specific shrimp food that is tailored to shrimp. They just rebrand one of their fish foods in a new package and label it "Shrimp".

It's a business after all, they are only maximising their profits.

There are many other brands out there that have much better shrimp food.

My LFS stocks Sera Shrimps Natural and the new shrimp seem to enjoy it just fine.  It also has a good ingredient list of natural things fed to shrimps by most keepers.  I am looking at Dennerle and GlasGarten foods to round out their diets.

Unfortunately, the local Australian shops don't seem to stock a lot of shrimp food. I have resorted to making my own.

But check out the "Food & Nutrition" section for inspiration on the different types of shrimp food available. Plenty of fresh fruit, veg and leaves are suitable for shrimps.

HI

Thanks for the info I'll start using it

A friend of mine recommended Shrimp King by a German company  - Dennerle. I also occasionally give them a mulberry leaf to vary their diet

Thanks for your reply

Shrimp King

They have some very good quality foods. Get that if you can. And supplement with some fresh leaves and frozen bloodworms, and your shrimp will have everything it needs.
