So I just learned that my tap water is very high in nitrates like up to 80pp water changes don't help I can't afford spring water and alge is trying to grow I have alot of plants and it's slowing down but will floating plants help?

Floating plants may help... even a pothos plant but you would want to pre-treat all water.

Have you considered going RO or distilled route? Should only cost 20-50 cents a gallon. Add in the required minerals needed for tank (either GH, or GH and KH - depending on inhabitants may also depend on type of remineralizer that you want to get) then do water changes as normal with the new water. Helps to have the GH/KH liquid test kits and a TDS meter. It can make water changes easier and faster.

I don't have the money to adford that all I can do is rely on floating plants oh and I am going to get nitrates reducer bio media
