ich in shrimp

as i believe shrimp cannot get whitespot/ich disease is it possible for them to be carriers, and if so how long can the spores lay dormant on the shell

May be species specific, which means that they can't get ich at all, let alone be carriers.

Two main bits in this stick out to me:

So it will depend on the temperature you're running at, but ~6 weeks sounds like it should be enough, so long as there are no other hosts (Fish) in the aquarium for them to feed on to preserve their cycle.
