Thanks, the shrimp is in a local shop, it's the first I seen in Hong Kong.

Do you know what variation is this.

Just one question, I see a shrimp I'd like local, but not sure what it is, it looks like a Mosura crown with a pinkish, orange white body, the patch is like a orange colour, do you know what shrimp it is.

The only one I can think of is the orange rili,

https://www.rendo-shrimp.de/epages/62701010.sf/en_GB/?ObjectPath=/Shops/62701010/Products/"1RS10 Orange Rili"

Or it maybe a golden bee?

Those are ALL things I buy, there will be a small packet of snowflake in the 5 in 1.  I don't know whether you can amend the order at this stage but they do have these snowflakes which I use, just a different brand (the same as is in 5 in 1) to the one you wanted, but you may well put through another order in the future.

They are super efficient so it may be too late already anyway?

That makes sense. I smash the 5 in 1 food with a hammer before opening each packet and then I tip them into a pot so they get a mix each day. A whole stick will probably be too much for your number of shrimps I think anyway. I then wet the flat end of an old shrimp lolly in the tank to 1-2mm and dip it in the mix and swish that in the tank, so they get a mix and it is spread around the tank so they don't have to fight over it. It should last quite a long time, I a still on my first pack of 5 in 1 mixed and that is nearly a year ago (though I only use it 2 days a week as I alternate with others), plus you are less likely to overfeed the shrimps which is very easy and common thing to do. Also, I use a lolly once a week but that is all the shrimps get that day, and I think they recommend a lolly for 30 shrimps, so you should probably just use half of one each time, as I used to when I had less shrimps! Even now with over 100 shrimps they only get the one lolly! I don't know whether you noticed but there is a mixed set of different lollies, which is the set I get.

Hope this all helps. I am still getting over the shock that you already got a shrimp I haven't heard of before today! Wow!

Simon

ps I may not be online tomorrow as we are having a powercut here for the day, so if you do post something don't think I am ignoring it if it takes a long time to reply!

You are saying, you don't have the ghost bee.

Yeh, the lollies, I realised I got the mixed packet.

I have contacted them but not received a reply to add two pack of of snowflakes, should I just cancel those.

I have just called them and left a message for him to call me so if he does before it is sent  I'll see if he can change the order. He doesn't answer when I call as my number is private!

I hadn't even known the ghost bee existed before I looked on that website?

The lollies you ordered are all artemia I think fro what you sent?

The 5 in 1 are only small packets so there is no reason to not get those and a tub extra of the snowflake, which is what I do.

I copied this from my PC, but my PC won't allow me to make the purchase, it's a company PC with intranet network, and many restriction, So I have to do it on my mobile phone, it's the mixed lolly that I purchased.

I also feed my shrimps with guppy food and Shirakura shrimps pellet.

I feed chi-ebi which I think is shirakua, but as I say I alternate day to day, I got the chi ebi mainly as it was recommended for baby shrimps. You won't need the guppy food any more as you will have plenty of proper shrimp foods that have everything that is good for them.

You may not get very far with ProShrimp today, because it is a Bank holiday here so I doubt he is at the business premises today.

I may be able to get hold of him in the morning, and will try, depending on when they cut our power off!

Ok, thanks for the update! I guess the modern phones mean it is easier to do these things these days even when you're not at work, but I am not of that generation. Anyway sounds like you are all sorted and it worked in your favour it being a bank holiday over here today as normally it would already have been posted.

Just to get back to the original subject to this thread, I retested the Z|EROWATER today after the filter has been used for 94L of tapwater (TDS171, GH5, KH3, PH7.5) as I wanted to check all was still working as well as when the filter was new.

TDS 000

GH 0-1

KH 0-1

PH 5.5-6

These figures are the same as when the filter was new. Admittedly it is PROBABLY near time when it will need to be changed (about 100-110L for my water).

It would still have been a bargain at the full price, so you did really well. The length that the filter lasts will depend on the TDS of your water but I think yours is a lot less than ours is in the UK. My TDS 170 does about 100L so if your TDS is half ours then it should do 200L?

I'm impressed the stuff from UK has arrived already! It may be worth considering that for future stuff?

There won't be any purchased from pro shrimp any time soon, the amount I purchased will last me a long time.

I agree it should last a long time. Don't forget to mash up the 5 in 1 with a hammer BEFORE opening the packets as it is much easier and cleaner to do it that way than trying to do it once the packets are opened! If the 2 snowflake bottles are only about half full I would put both those in the one tub and use the other tub to empty the 5 in 1 into and mix/store it in it!

The mineral fluid double is super easy to use but needs a thorough shaking each time you use it to get a consistent reading.

Thanks for the tip.

I have a question about the zerowater filter, is that a little hole at the bottom, or do I have to make a hole.

I assume that is where the water comes out once filtered. As it is such a thorough filter it comes through quite slowly, much slower than say a brita. I have never had to do anything other than just screw the filter in! Hope this answers the query?

      Hello,
Feeling that i have enough experiance to start with taiwan bee colony. Think about new setup for 20-25 taiwan bees.
What mix with KK`s you guys prefer/offering?
Now i`m thinking KK + R Rubies, maybe some pintos. Looking forward your ideas :)

I got some nice specimen from my mix-aquarium with TB's, pinto's, taitibees etc, etc, The first 2 photos (I think) must be a mix from a pinto zebra and a kingkong, The red one is probably a red tiger and the same father? I've got 2 of the  blacks and about 10 of the red ones, I have put them apart from the rest and see what the next genereation will be. Sorry for the quality of the photo's, they're just from my iPhone, the macrolens I ordered hasn't arrived yet :-(

      Hey guys,
Does anyone breed blue bolts from mischlings ? I've searched for a guide but didn't find one, read a lot about crossbreeding and soon I want to start a project to produce my own blue bolts.
I need your advices on this.
      Thank you!

I was going to do a water change this week and I checked my TDS and it's 113. Not sure how that happened. Last week my TDS was 240 after water change and my salty shrimp RO mix was 200. Maybe everything settled down? I'm at a loss. Anyone have any answers?  Thanks everyone

Another thing you can do to avoid rescaping: Just take some of the fresh soil and put it in your filter.

Hopefully the fish has just damaged itself as you say, mine do that sometimes, although the changes in the water will undoubtedly have caused them stress and the water they prefer was the water you started off with? There are sections on this forum dedicated to fish, I used it when I decided to try a Betta and got great advice from JayC and this Betta is doing way better than any I have tried before because of all the different things I did/do this time! https://skfaquatics.com/forum/forums/forum/116-fish-keepers/ Great to hear that the shrimps are doing so well. I think it is natural for the berried shrimp to hide away when they are near to birth as it protects the newly hatched shrimps when they are born, and the babies don't move far when they newly hatched either. There would be little to gain at this stage in getting more shrimps before getting a bigger/new tank, it may even be detrimental? I admit to being lazy sometimes and not topping up the tank between weekly maintenance/water changes (disgraceful really as I keep a 1litre bottle of RO water right next to the tank anyway), in which case I end up taking out 2litres and putting back 3litres at the next change, but need to make an allowance for the fact the TDS will change. When I set up the new Taiwan bee tank I measured the water I put into the tank at the start (assuming the measuring jug is anywhere near accurate) so that is how I know there is 28litres in the 35litre tank - it is a good idea to do this WITH A NEW TANK (but with everything in the tank, heater, filter substrate etc) as it is so much easier to do at that point anyway. I did the same with the Betta tank and that has 20litres in a 25litre tank (the one you were thinking of getting at some point). Without the exact figure to put in the spreadsheet then it won't be 'accurate (can still be used to give you as near an idea as needed though)', especially on a small tank! It works to the digit with mine. Even if you empty the tank and refill it probably won't be that accurate as the soil will have absorbed some water, so best do it first fill of new tank. Your water parameters are looking good and pretty much there now so all else being well you should be able to go back to once a week maintenance/water change. I don't know much about Nitrite/Nitrate as I have never had any readings, apart from the old fish/cherry shrimp tank which has always been 50 nitrate for years, probably because there are too many fish but there has never been a problem in that tank? PURELY AS A GUESS I would think the duckweed may have caused the problem/imbalance, but that is ONLY a guess based on I used it once and swore never again, I use water lettuce now, though that isn't perfect either as the routes grow so quickly that I have to trim those every week, but still a lot easier than duckweed.  Simon

Thanks JayC, I think it is called a Geode, that was what it was sold as when I bought it in US many years ago though it could be something else? I think it is some sort of meteorite? Hopefully, as you say, now it is removed the PH may start to drop and I have put one in some prepared water to test in a week. I will also just see what happens with prepared water left out for the same period just to see what happens with that. Simon
