Tank Mate Question

I understand that there is not really any perfect tank mate when it comes to cherry shrimp. But has anyone had success with neon tetras as tank mates? they stay relatively small and are semi-passive. Just looking for a little "swimming" to go on in the tank. And i always loved the look of neons or cardinal tetras....Thanks for the imput!!

Me too!  I was also curious if there were snails that could be kept with them and would leave the fry alone.  I bet there are some tetras that have really small mouths that would not be able to eat them.  What about Kubotai or Ember tetras?

Any snail is compatible. Take your pick.

Fishes are never 100% guaranteed. So even if someone says it's ok, keep that in mind.

Kubotai, embers are ok.

Neons are ok, but more of a risk than the above.

Cardinals ... hell no!

I've always heard (Flip Aquatics and Marks Shrimp tank) that assassin snail run a small risk of killing shrimp. Agian it's almost never but stop possible. But nitrites and mystery snails I've never had any deaths or heard of anything.

I had heard the same thing about Assassin snails.  More so that they eat the newborns.

I was thinking about putting a couple of Ramshorns in my 5 gallon because it would be really easy to control the breeding with such small tank.
