Hey hey hey,

Hows things everyone?

Ive been getting right back into shrimp in a major way now, Had a few days spare so I got around to re-sealing an old tank I had laying around and building a quick stand for it.

This is being setup as a shrimp/ low tech planted mostly somewhere for all my anubias to live I have some rather large varieties now, just some lava rock as the main hardscape, then course white sand, lots of ferns etc.

standard aquaone heater, and the filter I'm running is an aquaone 1050 series ii. It's quite new I got it on the cheap ages ago and it's sat there lol.

The tank was already drilled through the bottom panel from an older project, so I decided to run a closed plumbing system which seems to have stopped the notorious dead spots you sometimes get in tanks bigger then 4ft. And it's working great with only a relatively small filter.

Probably Going to end up being for my chameleons and or something else. Loving life right now, even though I didn't sleep and it's water change day today haha

peace ✌️

Wow i really like that variegated anubius. That is a clean looking tank set up.

Pretty big for a shrimp only setup so how about some micro fish also?

Cheers mate, if I could I'd have a 4 ft for each species I keep haha just don't have the money and space, plus this project was essentially just stuff I had laying around.

Yeah I'll probably breed some native snails orsomething in there too, maybe 2 species of shrimp like chameleons and Neos,

but tbh i go in for shrimp in a big way, other then that I only have Pygmy cory species and ottos now haha.

Ive been looking at things like delicate blue eyes etc so beautiful, just need to breed up some shrimps and sell them so I can buy more stuff lol.

Yeah is one of my favs, true marbled white nana.

Everything has grown a new leaf or 2 :) water is extremely clean and clear.

Yesterday I added like 20 Shrimp mineral balls haha and my little ramshorn population.

I think I'm going to put my chocs in here soon and just let them go nuts, so have chocolate Neos and ramshorns lol I like the idea of creating a nice big constant tank so I always have chocs.

I have a colony of  only 14 plus tons of babies and even some juvies now :) will loooove  to see this whole floor just covered with chocs soon enough hehe.

Generally anything that won't eat or Harass shrimp. Ottos, Pygmy cories, chilli rasboras, delicate blue eyes- things like that, some may eat a shimplet now and then and there's not many species that won't.

Soo keen to get all my chocs in here :).

The massive lava rock hasn't raised the tds barely at all. Maybe a few more ferns and such to go in aswell. Everything will take awhile to grow out nicely.

Ramshorns are lovin it so far haha.

Madmen what are micro fish?

Sorry @Christybell22 i did not see your post.

If you put a @ in front of a persons name, and the name will come up on the screen for you to click, then it will send a notification to them. Helps a lot with keeping track of posts.

Micro's are super tiny fish like Celestial Pearl Danio's and chilli Raspboras. Dont be fooled by the photo's that are posted on the net about these fish as they have all been taken with a macro lens. They are tiny.

It was a bit of tongue in cheek post as they would be totally lost in the 4 footer anyway so @Zebra would need 100 of them and they are bloody expensive here in OZ.

Do you think the Chocs will wash out a bit colour wise with the white sub @Zebra ?

Fully agree, pics of things like chilli rasbora do no justice compared to seeing them in person.

They haven't so far on the same white substrate, tbh I don't really notice a huge difference and find when shrimp are happy they don't tend to hide or camouflage as much, if I put a fish or 2 in there They will start hiding and blending more with the white I guess.

They have been breeding out a lovely array of colours though, from black, choc, some reds and now even blues.

Thinking of putting a shrimp doctor in here but not sure yet.

Haha I'm contemplating putting something else in there now.

I have some snowballs temporarily housed with my crs I could move in there instead of the  black neos, I think the snowballs will just breed snowballs where as the black neos I have are breeding lots of nice solid coloured variants.
