KNO3 in shrimp tanks

Recommended Posts

I get recurring outbreaks of cyanobacteria in my tanks. I believe it is down to the fact than my nitrates are either very low or non existent. Blue/green Slime remover gets rid of it, but it comes back in a few weeks. Could I add KNO3 safely in my shrimp tanks?

My cyano was remedied by my light change. I had a Finnex 24/7 and the red orange spectrum contribute to the Cyano from what I read. I changed to on off and it was gone in a week. Now I put a T5 HO in because the Finnex died and still have no Cyano. I did add a couple more plants after the outbreak to use up any extra nutrients but I am 95% sure it was the lights predominantly, good luck ?
