Weird parasite?

Tiamat

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I'm new, so go easy on me :)

So I noticed that a couple of my Neocaridina have this white tubular thing attached to the end of their snout. At first I thought it was just a discoloration or bit of stuck-on food particles. However the tubule has been there for days and today, I noticed it was wriggling like a worm!

Is this some sort of parasite or commensal organism?

Thanks for any insight!

Moved to the Shrimp Health and Care section.

@Tiamat, that looks like Scutariella.

See the Post on "Shrimp diseases and diagnosis"

The salt baths work, as described in the Shrimp Diseases and Diagnosis.

If you need to treat an entire tank, some people have used Fenbendazole (dog or goat dewormer), No Planaria and Paraguard.

I think you are both right. I did a 30 sec salt dip: 1 tablespoon Kosher salt + 16 oz tank water

Now the Scutariella are gone! My shrimp thanks you all!
