i want to mail some live shrimps such as blue dreams from other country,

but i found some website said even having shrimps arent legal in australia,

becasue australia not allowed crustaceans, because they thought it was bugs or something...

below there is a link from news about illegal import shrimps to australia in 2011:

It is true that you can not import them.

But the ones already here are able to be traded with in the country baring WA  i know QLD NSW and VIC have no issues sending them to and fro.

WA is a matter of debate the aquas guys went on a shrimp rampage of sorts a while back and where nuking tanks. but there are WA keepers on this form who have had no issues!

If you do try to import them from over seas do expect them to be found and destroyed, they might make it through by some kind of great luck but its not likely.

We have strict importation laws here in OZ, exotics are definitely not allowed in and you do risk hefty fines and possible jail terms if caught.

Short answer, don't do it.

As much as I like my fish and shrimp I am glad there are restrictions on imports ensuring what we remain strong and disease free in these areas, already a lot of deseases to contend with anyway. The fish industry have started or are still taking about stricter testing for fish imports that will only drive up the prices.
