Long term Shrimp Rack

Well on the weekend drove from Brisbane to Maryborough for a breeding system. Was a long drive and even longer home thanks to some fallen power lines just out of Gympie.

But for the price it was worth the drive. Wooden stand, 12 2ft tanks, 4ft sump, lights, sump pump, some media and all plumbing for a crazy price of $300!!!

Only problem is that I have no room until I buy a house at the end of the year. So this will sit at dads house until then.

All 13 tanks went into the cruiser and the stand into the trailer. Few pics of the car and trailer

Will be changing it around a little bit. Not to keen on the way the sump is set up so will be changing that. White paint will come off and redone in black. Currently the top tanks feed to the bottom tanks then to the sump and pump back up to the top so that will be changed. Will have another 3 tanks next to the sump that will run separately. Depending on how big the shed will be maybe another 6 tanks on top. Re-enforce the stand. Take out the fluros for some LED's. Thats it for the moment I think. Will be updating when I change things around. If you guys have any idea's for it don't be shy!

This will be my first shrimp system.

Cheers guys, super excited to get this up and running.

Can you believe it took him over a month to sell! and he had another 2 of the same haha but one rack was enough for me.

Had a thought last night that I could run another sump underneath and have 1 row with what ever and 1 row Sulawesi, as they are my favorite shrimp but all just ideas at the moment. Have 6 months to get this set up to my liking can't wait!

What an awesome pickup! Sometimes the distance puts off Buyers. I just did a 300km round trip a few weeks back for my new sump/rack tank.

I always see more rack setups come up for sale in QLD then anywhere else for some reason

It has been a few weeks now and I have done a couple of large water changes. I tested the water parameters this morning, GH6 and KH2, TDS 140 and PH 7.5. Obviously the PH is off but there isn't anything in the tank that should cause the PH to rise to this figure so I will just run the tank for another month with 10% weekly water changes (probably just with RO water) and see where we are at that point. The RO water tests at PH6, and the KH and GH in the tank could come down as they are at the upper limits for Caridina shrimps! There are only about 10 very small snails in there at this point, but they seem to be doing well enough.

I believe these to be very rare in Australia so you may even consider making it a longer term plan and produce your own by starting with the best CRS you can get as that is where the pure lines started! Depends how patient and interested in the project you are, but would save money as well? If I recall correctly it takes from 8 generations of selective breeding? They sell them at micro aquatic shop but do not ship to Western Australia, but that means they are available in Australia. https://microaquaticshop.com.au/products/pure-red-line-grade-ss-shrimp Good luck and just maybe smeone on here may point you in the right direction or be able to supply you with some.

Yes it’s super accurate to position where I want now and stay there- I am satisfied.  All the fish and shrimpers are doing excellent! Coming up on 4 years running!

You must be pleased with that, it looks better and is much more robust and less likely to damage or leaks! The tank looks very natural now it has been running for a time. I see the ember tetras, how are the blue shrimp doing, I see a few? The cat and dog look very content and unimpressed, lol.
