DOCTRDANS 30cm Cube CRS/CBS

Heres my 30cm Cube thats housing approx 25 CRS and 5 CBS

Lighting is a 10W LED floodlight.

Filtration is a HOB filter with some noodles in it and a sponge filter.

Plants, bolbitus, Java fern and subwasertang

Substrate is Up Aqua shrimp sand, I got this when it was the one to get, so far its buffering capacity is more than adequate but thats about it. I only have about 1-2cm to buffer sydney tap water down to a PH of 6 .

So far I have had zero luck in getting these guys to breed as yet which is pretty disapointing.

Tank looks great! Im sure they will start breeding once the tanks stable and they feel comfortable enough ;)

Tank looks great. If the WP are right, and tank maturity and stability is reached, they will breed ... Feed them some frozen blood worms. Adding minerals will also assist, then comes TDS / O2 levels to get the shrimplets survival % strong.

Looks like a cool little setup. How long has it been running for?

Its been running for about 7 months approx.

I add a spoonful of mineral powder every week, Im not really sure on the best dosage amount or frequency for the mineral powder so any advice would be good.

I do top ups from a 50-50 R/O and tap water mix.

i dont dose any mineral powders and i got heaps of babies! i would just leave it just do top ups dont go fiddiling with paramaters and you should get a heap of new babies,goodluck.

The day after finding this one berried I looked into the tank to see one crs munching on another ( not the berried one ), she still had a bit of life in her but not much so I pulled her out.

The shame was she was saddled.

So what's that about? She wasnt even completely dead yet!

Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that. I may be wrong but I found that when a shrimp is near death or has just died the other shrimp will eat it when there is not enough food avaliable. When I was feeding daily they never ate a dead shrimp but when I started feeding every 2-3 days I would always find them munching on a dead shrimp. This is just my experience, others with more knowledge and experienced might have a better answer for you.

Yeah it's a 10w white, more than enough, I only have it on for 3hrs a day otherwise I get to much algea
