2213 as a prefilter

Hi!

I was just wondering if a 2213 can be used as a prefilter?

Im planning on buying a 2000l/h canister for my next undertaking and ill end up having a spare 2213 lying around. would it be fine to use as a prefilter? and would flowrate be compromised?

I'm not sure on this, but I think you would be limited to the flow rate of the 2213.

Ah yeh forgot to add aswell, i would take out the impeller of the 2213 just let the water go through it

Then it sounds fine by me. Remember you'll lose % of the flow rate though with anything you add inline.

I have done this but with a 2211 prefilter and 2213 main. Works fine but the flow is sad...

I think you will lose a significant amount of flow due to the pipe diameters.

The 2000 LPH would be up around the 20 mm mark and to go down to the 12 mm for the 2213 that is nearly 1/4 the area...
