Advice needed: how do I wash off mineral turp residue from glass?

long story short: mucked up silicone sealant for the tank partition and had to use mineral turp to remove some of the sealant. Also had to use some metho. I've cleaned the surface with water and lots of wipes. Anything I can do to ensure I've removed as much of these stuff as possible?

Turps is an oil based product.

You'd have to use detergent. Rinse, then maybe clean it twice.

Then make sure you have removed as much of the detergent as possible.

Rinse, rinse again, and then maybe one more time.

Sorry, I'm not much help. I don't get turps on an aquarium very often. But I use it to clean paint brushes, some times, and lots of detergent works.

Hi! I've got pretty much the same set up. And remarkably just starting it up as well.

my set up consists of:

-Komoda 4ft bookshelf

-Eheim 2215 filter

-Pro Z light.

-CO2 injection.

-Eheim jäger 100w

i've got Mr Aqua soil but in hindsight, I would have gotten Amazonia just like yourself.

I also am using an xy-380 sponge which cost about 10 bucks and an air pump. As mentioned by Ozshrimp, it's highly beneficial as it will oxygenate the water and provide bacteria for your shrimp to eat off. Another alternative to oxygenate the water is to use an oxydator. I've used this in my crs tank before and noticed more babies surviving in my cube tank.

If you want to grow HC successfully, you may need a 2nd pro z light along with CO2. It just doesn't feel suffice having just 1 pro z light.

With regards to CO2 injection,I have a normal disc diffuser but I've heard good things about inline diffusers. It will be more economical as you require injecting less co2 for the same results.

You still need to cycle your tank which may take 4 - 8 weeks (I think?). YouDon't need to consider getting a chiller just yet as summer will be over in a couple of months and I presume you won't be filling your tank with precious invertebrates till you cycle your tank? One other plus is that you can CO2 inject the crap out of your HC in the interim. Well, that's what I'm doing with assistance from my fighting fish to quicken the cycle.

I also want to pay kudos to Jayc on awesome write up as it will be helping me set up my tank.

Getafix, I feel like I'm going on the same journey as yourself as I pretty much bought the same spec stuff! Lol.

Good luck and happy shrimp breeding!

Will
