Gday all!

I have a question regarding co2 drop checkers.

I have to raise the KH to 4 with RO water.

Question is, how do I do that? I only raise the GH for my shrimp with my RO water.

Thanks team!

Hi Mitch,

I don't really understand your question/s.

What are your water parameters?

And are you trying to raise KH? or GH?

Not so sure how this relates to CO2 drop checkers, since this only provides an indication of CO2 levels.

Pure RO water generally decreases GH and KH, not increase them.

We have experienced members on SKF that can help if we can get a clear indication of what you are trying to achieve. Hope to hear from you.

Sorry, after re reading that I should have been a little more clear.

The water (not the chemical drops) that has to go into the Co2 drop checker has to be kH 4. After my water comes out of my RO unit it is kH 0. How do I raise the kH from 0 to 4 so I can add this to my drop checker (not to the tank water).

Ah I see.

Now I understand.

Since this is only for a CO2 drop checker, I think it is safe to use Bi-Carb of soda to raise KH.

I know 1 teaspoon in 50L of water will raise KH by 4.

So you are going to need only a little pinch for a small amount like a CO2 drop checker.

I think bi-carb soda is the cheapest and simplest method. You might already have this in your pantry.

Does any one else know of a another method that is simpler?
